I have always found myself drawn to the creative process; the closest I can be to the sublime is when I am creating. Being immersed in the creation of art causes me to see the world through different eyes than I would other wise.
After many years of being involved in music, acting, and writing to express myself, I have returned to fine art. I find that painting and sculpting allows me to relay who I am like no other medium, without the need of further explanation to the viewer.
My inspiration for painting comes from many sources and is mainly grounded in realism while being most influenced by the surrealist period of painting. The technique I use is that of the old masters, layering multiple glazes of translucent paint, preferring to keep my colors dark and intense.
The inspiration for my sculpture comes from my life experiences. I attempt to relate these elusive dreams to others through representational abstract forms carved from exotic hardwoods imported from
Africa
and
Brazil
. I strive to keep these forms very organic and use no stains on the wood, keeping only the natural colors. I am currently moving toward the fusion of metal and wood in my sculptural work.
