Trust. Faith. Gratitude.
Every day as an artist and creative is different for me, but each one is filled to the brim with gratitude. Gratitude for the people I get to connect with, the stories I get to be a part of, and the faith and love I get to witness.
There are so many incredible photographers out there, and to be chosen to document such once-in-a-lifetime moments is an honor I truly cherish. I genuinely love and value everyone who comes into my life, and I think most artists and photographers feel the exact same way!
Sometimes life throws you a little curveball, and when Jaidyn and Tylen's original wedding photographer experienced a joyful life circumstance, I was one of the photographers they recommended. And wow, what an honor. Getting to know these two and celebrate them on their beautiful wedding day was such a joy. Knowing I am trusted not only by my clients but also by peers I truly admire is icing on the cake.
The Burrow wedding day was filled with love, so much beautiful emotion, huge smiles, happy tears, and people who support this couple beyond measure. I think one of my favorite parts of the entire day was the first look. There is something so intimate and beautiful about the energy when a groom sees his stunning bride for the first time on their wedding day. This first look was beautifully emotional. The way they quietly care for one another, a tender and sweet love that radiates gratitude for each other. Their ceremony was just as sweet and emotional, too.
You can learn a lot about people through wedding planning and the way they approach life. From the very beginning, these two have been excited, calm, and joyful no matter the circumstances. That alone says so much about the kind of amazing human beings they are.
A Northeast Iowa Wedding at West Union Event Center
The couple chose to host their entire wedding day at the gorgeous West Union Event Center in Northeast Iowa. This space offers beautiful outdoor areas, a bridal suite, a getting-ready area for the guys, and a massive reception hall with a beautiful wooden staircase that makes a lovely backdrop for indoor portraits and ceremonies.
While the Burrows originally planned to have their ceremony outdoors, Mother Nature decided otherwise. Wanting to move forward with a plan, the couple decided to move everything inside, which worked out perfectly at this venue. I have photographed at the West Union Event Center before, and it is always fun to see how differently the layout can be arranged.
Jaidyn and Tylen had their dinner reception tables arranged in front of the elegant staircase, with all of the chairs turned toward the staircase-framed altar area. This was perfect! Guests could find their seats and enjoy the ceremony, and no tables needed to be moved or rearranged afterward for the dance.
The ceremony was heartfelt and beautiful, filled with happy tears and so much joy. Did you see the excitement on the groom's face when Jaidyn put his ring on? I absolutely adored documenting every sweet expression, and Rachel did too! Working together, we captured so many fun angles and little moments throughout the day.
After the ceremony, the couple and wedding party disappeared into the bridal suite to regroup before their grand entrance. Mr. and Mrs. Burrow shared their first dance and special dances right after making their entrance, and the bride and groom also welcomed their loved ones with a speech to kick off the reception.
And I have to take a second to mention the stellar spotlighting this venue DJ had. From speeches to party dancing, just wow!
Dinner was amazing. We are always so grateful to be included in the meal for a little break during a busy wedding day. Rachel and I enjoyed ours quickly so we would be ready to document the speeches, and oh, what wonderful speeches they were!
Hearing the stories loved ones share about the bride and groom, seeing the venue erupt in laughter, and watching the bride wipe away tears... it's all part of why I love this job so much.
I love being surrounded by such emotion and getting to document it, knowing that the couple will look back on these images and feel those same feelings they experienced in the moment.
That's why I do this.
Life is so precious and fleeting. These are more than just photos of a wedding day. They're memories that transport you right back to the moment. When I take time to edit through every image, I feel such joy reliving the experiences from the day, and I hope and pray that my love shines through in how I've documented them, too.
The cake was cut, and the dance floor was calling! The Burrows' reception ended with an epic party, complete with a packed dance floor, fog, and lights. All ages, from the littles to the grandparents, joined in on the fun. What an incredible wedding day!
Whether things go exactly as planned or life and the weather switch things up, at the end of a wedding day, the most important thing is the union of two people who love and promise themselves to each other, for always.
Jaidyn and Tylen, thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me and trusting me with your best day. I pray your life together is filled with a love that grows through all seasons, that you're always surrounded by supportive friends and family, and that your hearts are filled with joy, faith, and gratitude for one another.
Gratefully,
Jillian
